Here is another loose study of Port Isaac in Cornwall. Thick lashings of acrylic paint applied fast to give it some life.

I have had a "block" and haven't painted for some weeks. I wanted to start a new, "looser" style and came up with this study.
Acrylic on Canson paper is the technique.

I am experimenting with a different technique using more watercolour and a relatively small amount of acrylic paint and working on Arches paper, which is a delight to use. I am exploring lost and found elements, the use of silhouettes and having fun with the colours.
Here are some examples:

And now for something completely different...
"The Owl and the Pussy Cat".
Inspired by the nonsense rhyme by Edward Lear. I left
out the honey wrapped up in a five pound note
however, being rather tricky to draw!
This is a painting of Sidney Sussex College Cambridge which I painted recently as a commission. The architectural detail was daunting as were the perspective problems, as I was working from an under-exposed photograph which was distorted by the lens which affected the vertical lines. However, it was a challenge which I enjoyed especially when the colours went in and it sprang to life.

Strong use of colour makes these vibrant paintings exciting (for me , anyway)
Here are four recent paintings of Cornish villages using Acrylic paint and ink.

People love beaches and Cornwall in England is world-famous for hers.
St.Ives has several, all backed by the quaint cottages and fishing huts typical of the Cornish scene.

Canson paper which I used to paint Pastels is amazingly adaptable
and suits my acrylic and ink technique. It comes in a variety of colours, and here I used a buff and a pink one to influence the mood of the painting.
When I paint I put the outline in last, and up to then the composition looks very disorganised. The outline is magical and transforms the whole picture. The trick is to foresee the final result in my mind as I work.
I aim for a balance of colour and shade to make a cohesive whole,
Very relaxing when things go well, and very frustrating if they don't.

I found a way to put a border round my paintings for display purposes.

I am trying here to get moody effects by using a maroon sky and opposing broken colour and marks.

Here I have altered my palette and copied my own work by changing the colours to create different moods. Each painting has a dominant colour theme

I experimented with two contrasting colours, setting off orange and blue hues against eachother in this painting of a Cornish port.

RIVER BOATYARD. Another study using acrylic paint and Indian ink

ACRYLIC ON BOCKINGFORD PAPER

Here I messed around with the colours, keeping them in balance but adjusting the range. I used Indian ink, a variety of nibs and acrylic paint
